about

TRM-VA-040

“Behold, the hope of him is in vain; shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?” ל is the Hebrew letter L, the first letter in the word Leviathan, name of the doomed “tortuous serpent“ of Tanakh mythology. With this, Traumatic opens the new chapter of annual various artist compilations, sequel to the three parts of Doomed Industry. לויתן will be revealed over roughly five years and lead the listeners into the core ideas of Traumatic – as signified in the symbolism of its logo.

Whereas Doomed Industry had displayed the affluence of the label sound, ל strives for pithiness: The entire range of Traumatic in the framework of a CD length, fathomed by a fine mixture of Traumatic regulars and prolific guests. Said range presents itself as such: From the gothic dreamscape intro by Mel Agony to relentless industrial hardcore stompers by Demanufacturer or Sidelnikov, from Creature’s novelty psychedelic extravaganza to the filthy rhythms of Desolation or Helios is Dead, from the slasher soundtracks by Hypoxic & Natrion or Psycow to AnTraxid’s dark dance floor smasher or CRPTC’s martial makeover for Hypoxic. Xaero himself appears twice, with the abrasive “Grayscale”, written as a tribute to the Maschinenfest and thus renouncing the time-keeping metrum of the hihat, which gets a contemporary hardcore flavour breathed into by Sacerdos Vigilia.
Such is the cornucopia of ל, a manifold of talents united in attitude – who go by the words of Thomas Hobbes: “The constitution of man's nature is of itself subject to desire novelty.”
