TRM-LP-048 CRPTC - Distorted Frontier

A crushing sound like falling cinder-blocks, impermeable darkness and an abyss of distortion: Rotterdam-based producer CRPTC has surely carved his own niche of industrial-infused slowcore through his four Traumatic EPs and a string of remixes for label mates and friends. Certainly you always thought it was high time for a full length release – and so did he: “Distorted Frontier” collects over an hour of his trademark sound, in his own words “just typically CRPTC”, but of course there’s more to discover.

After the intro sets the mood, mayhem unfolds: CRPTC tracks are propelled by bruising kicks at unusual bpm (god-sent if you want to work up your DJ set) and a prominent use of samples. It contains unique traces of acid with “Dreams” or infectious old school hooks with “Shelter” and “The Trenches”!

Have you worked up a sweat yet? The fun really starts with the collaborations: Traumatic boss Xaero has infused the screeching banger “Destiny” with a truckload of grit; “Ethereal”, meant as a successor to darkcore hit tune “Stardust”, features the rhythmic force of label mate Ascend and “Dark Impulses” with its low bassline and hyped buildup was touched and gilded by the hands of Hypoxic, a manifesto of global friendship.

See another Traumatic label mainstay taking his art to the next level – follow CRPTC to the Distorted Frontier!
