Traumatic label founder Xaero adds a new EP to his discography – and you bet he has some innovative idea in his mind: “Null” suggests nihilism, a denial of absolute knowledge and meaning, and definitely you can never quite make out where you are with this four-tracker.
The musical backbone is a melodic backcloth of symphonic grandeur which works in a delicate contrast with the distorted kicks. The grim opener “Nothingness” is centered around the sense that something’s going wrong, as implied by the ominous vocal samples. From there, things get faster, with “Mute” being Xaero’s boldest foray into darkcore, “Cyborg” a resonating industrial hit tune and “No One To Be Saved” upping the ante in terms of plaintive orchestral background – the latter featuring the helping hands of up and coming producer Senes.
