At the end of 2020, Traumatic reveals the third edition of the לויתן (LVTHN) various album series, the letter י (T) – a beastly conclusion to a doomed year. This compilation serves as an inventory and an outlook, and as you’ve come to expect, the light at the end of the tunnel might just be a cruel deception: “No arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear and danger of violent death; and the life of man solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.”
The Traumatic regulars Desolation, Xaero, Senes, CRPTC, Hypoxic, Ascend and Dustrializer have taken their time to polish their sounds an extend their scope in production and/or remix duty, exploring the harder, faster, fiercer edges of darkcore and industrial hardcore. And then: Mindwalker single-handedly inventing the IDM (i.e. intelligent doom music) genre, Cryptox and Praevus harking back to the heyday of slow and mystic doomcore, Nekrokick features Zheani rocking it digital hardcore style, Swedish newcomer Copulation providing a dark raving banger, a dance floor weapon just like the tracks by fellow Norseman RagnaRok and Kilbourne’s remix for Sacerdos Vigilia, finally Mental Wreckage, Rumbler and The Relic show how authentic and effective industrial hardcore still is in 2020.
